on the church

a prayer about Acts 2:42

Father, thank You for this family You’ve given us, for Your faithfulness through every season, holding this house together.

Thank You because You move through Your people, using Your church to comfort those who hurt, to encourage those who drift, and to lift those weighed down by sin, reminding us that we are never alone in Your presence.

You have shown us what Your church is meant to be in the book of Acts: a people devoted to truth and to one another, to sharing life, giving so no one lacks, to prayer, worship, and breaking bread together.

Make us that kind of church, Lord— not defined by a building, but by love for You and for each other. Teach us to carry one another’s burdens, to open our homes, our calendars, our hearts, to sit long enough to listen, to pray until Your presence fills the room.

Forgive us for jealousy hidden behind smiles, for gossip we’ve called “concern,” for bitterness we’ve nursed in secret, and for pride that keeps us from saying, “I was wrong.”

Forgive us for neglecting fellowship, for isolating ourselves, for holding back our time, resources, and love.

Forgive us for neglecting prayer, for not interceding for one another, and for letting communion with You become routine instead of sacred.

Wash our hearts, Lord. Strip away comparison, competition, and self-promotion, so that we may fully live in fellowship, serve one another, and devote ourselves to Your Word and prayer.

In every conflict, let grace be our first response and truth our firm foundation.

Awaken in us a pure, sacrificial love that seeks not recognition, but communion. Break our indifference, pride, and routine.

Heal every unspoken hurt and raise in us a love stronger than any offense, one that reaches out to those around us.

Holy Spirit, enter every corner of this house. Where there is silence, bring song. Where there is distance, bring embrace. Where there is pain, bring healing. Where there is weariness, renew our strength.
