on money

a prayer about creating margin in our finances

When was the last time you looked at your bank account… and felt peace? Not pressure. Not panic. Not guilt or shame. But peace.

We live in a world where money speaks louder than wisdom— Where contentment is scarce, And comparison is currency.

Many of us carry regret. We’ve made decisions in fear, Spent money to meet expectations, Given out of guilt—or not at all.

Some of us are stretched so thin, We’ve forgotten what breathing room feels like. And somewhere along the way, We stopped asking God what He desires.

But what if His way is different? Not built on shame… but on freedom. Would you trust Him then?

Would you trust a God like that— One who has never failed, Who has proven Himself more faithful Than anyone or anything? The One who loves you unconditionally, Has been pursuing you, And is patiently waiting… For you to love Him back?

God is not a God of scarcity. He is the Shepherd who makes us lie down in green pastures. He restores our soul.

He invites us to live with margin— To step out of fear, into peace. Out of pressure, into wisdom. Out of scarcity, into trust.

So let us come humbly to the throne of grace, to be reshaped by His wisdom. Let’s pray.

⸻

Father, we come not with pride, but with need.

We’ve bought the lie that more is better. We’ve overspent. We’ve worried. We’ve rushed into decisions without asking You first.

We’ve lived without margin, And it’s cost us more than money. It’s cost us peace. It’s made us frantic instead of faithful. Fearful instead of free.

And when we feel squeezed, we blame You— Even though we ignored Your wisdom.

But even then… You don’t shame us. You pursue us. You long for us to return. To see You. To know You.

Your Word teaches us that godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Tim. 6:6), And that those who trust in You lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10).

So God, we surrender our money—but more than that, We surrender our mindset.

Forgive us for comparing, For complaining, For overspending. For being selfish and blind to the needs around us. For living too fast to hear Your voice. For choosing bondage over freedom— Slavery to greed, Slavery to image, Slavery to the lie that we are what we own.

All things are from You, for You, and through You. And You’ve given us more than we need.

You’ve called us to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share (1 Tim. 6:18). So teach us to steward what You’ve given— Not for status, but for service. Not for excess, but for eternal purpose.

Teach us contentment, Lord. The kind that trusts You in all circumstances— Whether with plenty or with little.

Make us people who live with open hands and quiet hearts.

No queremos justificar nuestras decisiones, No venimos a pretender. Venimos a clamar. Venimos a confesar.

Eres tierno. Y siempre has sido bueno.

Queremos reflejar Tu generosidad. Queremos vivir livianos. En paz. En obediencia. En gratitud.

En tu nombre oramos, Amen
